Hot Summer, Book Update and Cruise Anticipation

Summer here in Saskatoon is awesome, but it is very hot this year. We've been reaching temperatures of 30 to 35 Celsius here - very hot and even though it cools down a bit at night it's still too hot to sleep very well. But it is beautiful, sunny and green everywhere, so I am enjoying those aspects of this heatwave. Because of the dry sunny weather, we have been able to enjoy the new deck my husband built, as well as our new patio furniture and new covered swing - I have a back yard oasis!

I am still working on my book, although that goes in bits and spurts. As I start to flesh out some of the chapters I've outlined, I realize that some of the chapters I want to write about involve issues I am still learning to overcome and/or growing through (like ADHD and Self Esteem, Spending and Eating Addictions, Relationships, Organization and Neatness, etc.). I think I want to research and learn more coping skills in these areas before I feel confident enough to give advice on them to other people. It's good for me to face some of these issues and learn how to overcome them, and that in turn will help others as I write about what I've learned.

I'm also really starting to get hyped about my upcoming vacation in 66 sleeps!!! Not only have I not had a real vacation (meaning 2 or more weeks off in a row where I fly or go somewhere) in two and half years due to changing jobs a year ago (I had to wait a year before I built up enough earned vacation days), but this upcoming vacation is quite special. My Mom and I love to cruise (we've been on 4 cruises in the past 10 years already), and we are cruising to Hawaii this time!!! I am taking a full three weeks that will include a week in Vancouver, a 10 day cruise (5 days at sea from Vancouver to Hawaii, 5 days cruising around to 5 different Hawaiian ports), 3 days in Honolulu and then fly back to Vancouver before flying home. I'm looking forward to seeing my Mom and my family in Vancouver, and I'm really looking forward to Hawaii and another cruise. I've never been to Hawaii, but it sounds wonderful and any trip that involves a cruise ship is where I want to be!!!

Anyways, I should crank up what my husband calls "redneck air conditioning" (ceiling fans and floor fans) and try to get some sleep despite the heat.

Stay cool!!!
